Net Metering

Net Metering

Net Metering enables the consumer to generate the electricity his home needs, helping him get rid of electricity bills. Adding environmental and energy extensions, the installation of PV systems, in addition to being very interesting, helps to eliminate our energy footprint in the environment.

What is it?
Net-metering or otherwise self-generating energy is an energy offset between the energy produced by photovoltaic systems, and the energy consumed by a household or a business.
In essence, net-metering now allows the Greek consumer:
1. To produce FREE electricity from the sun that he needs in his home or in the area of his commercial activity.
2. To have FREE heating-cooling and oil discharge, in combination with heat pump or existing air conditioners or general sources that use electricity (infrared panels, radiators, etc.) and
3. To have FREE hot water (DHW) in combination with an electric water heater or boiler or solar water heater.
Net Metering was launched in the US in 1980 and is now successfully implemented in many countries. Its implementation in our country started on January 1, 2015.
In practice, it is an agreement that allows you to offset the energy you produce, with the energy you consume on an annual basis.

Target Audience;
To all consumers who want to save money from the electricity bill. There is even the possibility of zeroing the competitive charges of PPC (electricity value) with smaller, cheaper and more efficient systems than in the past.
In particular, household consumers can zero the competitive bills of PPC (electricity value) with systems from 3 to 5 kW (depending on energy requirements).
Businesses can greatly reduce their operating costs and thus become more competitive.
Even farmers can save money by using self-production for the operation of their pumping stations (wells) or other energy-intensive facilities.
Advantages of net metering

Net Metering has been implemented abroad for many years with great success
• The consumer (individual or entrepreneur) quickly depreciates his investment and does not depend on the state and subsidies for it.
• Because energy is offset (in kWh) and not economical (in €) there is no charge for future increases in electricity tariffs.
• Self-production is not a production of energy for the purpose of selling it, therefore there is no income that can be taxed.
• With the combination of self-generation and heating-cooling sources that use electricity, the heating, cooling and DHW of our property can be provided at zero cost.
• Families, entrepreneurs and farmers consume free electricity generated by the sun (Green Energy), thus reducing pollutants and the energy footprint of their property and helping to protect the environment.

What is provided by the legislation for net metering?
Now the installation can be done in the same space or in an adjacent space with the consumption installation. Both the owners and the tenants of a property have the right of installation as long as they have the legal use of the property (with a lease or free concession).
The installation can also be done on the roof (roof or roof) or on the ground or in any other construction according to the current urban planning legislation (pergola etc).
More than one power generation system can now be installed in public or shared areas (apartment building). Each power generation system corresponds exclusively to a consumption meter (PPC clock).
